25.01.2008

Vietnam, 25th January 2008, The Altimo Foundation, part of Altimo, $30 billion international telecoms investment group, provided a rare opportunity to see and hear world-class ballet performances at a gala concert of Russia’s leading ballet stars at the historic Hanoi Opera House. Headliners of the ballet came from the world famous Bolshoi and Stanislavski Theater to Hanoi for the 1st time.

The debut performance in Vietnam was the world famous «Gala Performance» which consists of the most important 12 scenes of classical ballet history. The stars are 12 soloists from the Bolshoi and the Stanislavski Theater, the best ballet performers Russia has to offer. The members of the Corps de Ballet are from world famous Russian schools from which all Great Russian Ballet personalities graduated. The artistic director, ex-leading dancer of the Bolshoi, Evgeny Kern, is not only an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation; he is also a Laureate of the International Competition of Ballet Dancers.

The Performance offered the classical repertoire of the world famous Bolshoi and Stanislavski Theaters. The best scenes from "Sleeping Beauty", "Nutcracker", "Don Quixote", and «Corsair» were shown to high-profile Hanoi public. Hanoi’s distinguished art lovers were able to view the gala ballet concert as a significant cultural experience that provides an opportunity for Vietnamese audiences to see classical Russian ballet at its finest.

"The Altimo Foundation is very proud to present Russia’s best ballet performers in Vietnam for the very first time." said Kirill Babaev, CEO of the Altimo Foundation. «The Altimo Foundation aims to promote cultural interaction and the communication of values between East and West with a commitment to cultural exchange and tonight sees the artistic expression of this vision.»

This year marks the beginning of the Altimo Foundation’s focused commitment to "making the best of Russia accessible to new generations in Vietnam." Thanks to the generous support of its corporate parent Altimo, the Altimo Foundation will provide a number of overseas scholarships at leading international business schools to Vietnam’s brightest students as well as continuing its generous sponsorship of the arts and cultural actitvies.

Altimo actively manages the economic, social and environmental impact of its activities, and creates long-terms benefits by working with local communities, government organizations and other key stakeholders. Since entering the Vietnamese market in 2006, Altimo has been involved in on-going cultural initiatives including an exhibition of Vietnamese artists in Moscow’s Tretyakov Gallery, home to the world’s most extensive collection of Russian art, as well as Vietnamese Cultural Shows in London and Stockholm. Altimo’s social and cultural engagement found formal expression in the organization’s last year founding of the Altimo Foundation.
